This week we will study the following:

Language Arts: Students will continue to read Robin Hood. We will have a deep discussion about whether or not Robin Hood is a hero.

Science: This amazing unit on meteorology continues this week as students are assessed on clouds, winds, and the water cycle.


History: Europe in the Middle Ages continues with a look at the Black Death!

This week we will study the following:

Language Arts: Students will continue to read Robin Hood. This book fits in nicely with the current history unit. This week students look at story sequencing as well as character traits. The students are enjoying this book and have seen a pattern with Robin Hood: attempt to rob someone, fight them, lose, call for help, become friends with his opponent, and invite him to join the band. This week we read 4 chapters. PLEASE practice using the vocabulary words at home!

Science: This excellent unit on meteorology continues this week as students look at clouds; literally, and figuratively. I am hoping for some cloud cover this week so students can go outside and observe. If not, a quick field trip to New York is in order! Ok, maybe not… Students will also read and memorize a poem by Christian Rossetti. If you are at school, stop by and check out our giant graphs in the hallway! These are from our soil and water heating experiment which tied directly into the lessons on wind and wind patterns.


History: Europe in the Middle Ages continues with a look at the Hundred Year’s War, Joan of Arc, and the Black Death! Joan of Arc is a true female war hero and students will go in depth and look at her life and her accomplishments. They will also learn about the Black Death and see just how many people died from this horrible plague.

This week we will study the following:

Language Arts: Students will continue to read Robin Hood. This book fits in nicely with the current history unit. This week students look at story sequencing. There is a distinct order to Robin Hood and students will survey the chapters and decipher what that sequence is. We will also discuss honesty and character.  

Science: This most exciting unit on meteorology continues this week as students look at the water cycle. If you are at school, stop by and check out our giant graphs in the hallway! These are from our soil and water heating experiment which tied directly into the lessons on wind and wind patterns.


History: Europe in the Middle Ages continues with a look at the Magna Carta. This document deserves an entire unit! This document set the tone for our Declaration of Independence and during this week, the students get an even broader look into how the government stylings of Medieval Europe formed our very government that we enjoy today. 

This week we will study the following:

Language Arts: Students will continue to read Robin Hood. This book fits in nicely with the current history unit. This week students look at character traits and we will discuss whether Robin Hood is a fair man or a common criminal.  

Science: The unit on meteorology continues this week as students look at wind and wind patterns. The students are LOVING all of the activities and experiments.



History: Europe in the Middle Ages continues with a week of review, every day, for the test on Friday.
