This week’s class motto is: Working Hard is Smart

VIRTUES OF THE MONTH- APRIL: Humility and Responsibility

Send me e-mails on how you see your child showing humility and responsibility.

Congratulations to Hanna for winning the March virtue of the month award for honesty!

Next two weeks in class:

History: Students will complete the study of the American Revolution. We will have great discussions on the strategy behind Washington’s success and how he was able to rally the troops. We will also outline the deciding victory at Yorktown.

Science: Students will continue the unit on the circulatory system. On April 6th, we will dissect a pig heart. I will do the actual dissecting, but after school, students will have the opportunity to play with the hearts.

Language Arts: We will finish reading Carry On Mr. Bowditch. There are such great metaphorical references in this book.  We will finish by having a discussion about perseverance.

Math: Students will multiply and divide decimals.

3/20/15

Spring break is almost over! Please remember that we return on Tuesday!

The fourth quarter has arrived! It is hard to believe that in just two months, the inaugural school year for Archway Classical Academy Arete will end. There is still much work to be done here in fourth grade.

This quarter is full of fun and exciting material. In history, we will complete our unit on the American Revolution. After that, is a unit on the creation of the United States Constitution, followed by a unit on early American Presidents.

In science, students will learn about the circulatory system and respiratory system. There will be many exciting experiments and activities, including a pig heart dissection! Students still take the science AIMS in April and the year will end with science projects!

In Language Arts, students will complete Carry on Mr. Bowditch and move into the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I invite you to come in and watch a discussion. In grammar, students will extend their understanding of sentence diagramming. Students will write pen pal letters to other fourth graders attending Archway Classical Academy Chandler.

In math students will master decimals, multiplying and dividing them. Then, they will move into volume, weight, congruent shapes, and data analysis.

There is a lot to accomplish! This promises to be an exciting quarter.

Language Arts: We will continue to read Carry on Mr. Bowditch. This is an exciting book that fit directly into our colonial studies. In grammar we will continue diagramming. Students will write an essay and practice editing marks. Stop on by to see a discussion!
