The fourth quarter has arrived! It is hard to believe that in just two months, the school year will end. There is still much work to be done here in fourth grade.

This quarter is full of fun and exciting material. In history, we will complete our unit on the American Revolution. After that, is a unit on the creation of the United States Constitution, followed by a unit on early American Presidents.

In science, students will learn about the circulatory system and respiratory system. There will be many exciting experiments and activities, including a pig heart dissection! Students still take the science AIMS in April, and the year will end with science projects!

In Language Arts, students will move into the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. I invite you to come in and watch a discussion. In grammar, students will extend their understanding of sentence diagramming. Students will write pen pal letters to other fourth graders attending Archway Classical Academy Chandler.

In math students will master decimals, multiplying and dividing them. Then, they will move into volume, weight, congruent shapes, and data analysis.

There is a lot to accomplish! This promises to be an exciting quarter.

Please enjoy your Spring Break

Thursday, March 10, 2016

Field Day

Tomorrow is Field Day. Students may wear non-uniform clothing, but it still needs to conform to the parent handbook guidelines. Shorts must be of modest length and shirts must be sleeved (no tank-tops). Students may wear team apparel (Mets, Jets, University of Michigan or Arizona sports teams etc.), however, no pop-culture.

Spring Break

Spring Break runs from Friday, March 18-Monday, March 28, with students returning Tuesday, March 29. Thursday, March 17th is a half-day!

Desk Clean-Out

Facilities will be "super" cleaning the desks and rooms during the break. Students will need to empty all of the contents from their desks. Just like Winter Break, students will gradually bring home materials from their desks. Please make a space at home to place everything.

Tests

Tomorrow, students will take a history and a science test. Normally, I do not schedule two tests like this, but I wanted to maximize the amount of time they had to review.
