This week in class:

Language Arts: Students will continue their exploration into the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, by Washington Irving. This book is filled with very complex vocabulary so when I read it, we stop and discuss the scenes. Ask your child how I “translate” the text for them.
Grammar: This week, students focus on possessive and predicate nouns. I am working on setting up the diagram contest with Mrs. Posner’s sixth grade class.

Science: This week, students continue to learn about plants and flowers. It is refreshing to have such an interesting science unit. There will be activities and note taking. The final unit test is on Friday.

History: Students are now deeply involved in the American Revolution. This week we discuss George Washington and turn our focus to the beginning of the trouble between colonists and Britain.
